Man Utd flop ‘undergoes medical’ ahead of exit as fans say ‘you deserve better’

Manchester United flop Donny van de Beek has been told he deserves better as he prepares to move on in January.

The 26-year-old joined from Dutch giants Ajax in 2020 for an initial €39million (£34.1m) but has endured a nightmare spell at Old Trafford. Eintracht Frankfurt are on the verge of signing Van De Beek on loan, with the Dutchman already undergoing a medical in Germany, according toFabrizio Romano. The transfer expert reports Van de Beek will join the Bundesliga side on loan with an option to buy for €11m (£9.5m), plus €4m (£3.45m) in add-ons.

Despite his impending move, Van de Beek could remain part of United’s absentee-hit squad and continue training with them until that deal is completed. United fans and supporters of other clubs have been quick to wish the player well amid hopes he can get his career back on track.

“Best wishes Donny. You deserve better,” said one. Another added: “I'm excited for Donny van de Beek. I hope he makes good use of this loan move.”

A third declared: “Manchester United ruined this generational talent.” A fourth commented: “Good move for him, I hope he plays consistently.” A fifth added: “Amazing one from him, man needs to leave the club for a place where he can show his potential.”

The midfielder, whose contract expires in 2025, has made only two appearances this term and 62 in total during an injury-impacted spell with the Red Devils.

Van de Beek spent the second half of the 2021-22 season on loan at Everton and a United exit did not materialise over the summer despite interest from a number of clubs. He was not included in their Champions League squad.
