Man Utd fans stunned to discover who Kobbie Mainoo’s famous older brother is

Football fans are only just finding out who Manchester United starlet Kobbie Mainoo’s older brother is.

United’s teenage star has burst onto the scene in recent weeks following a string of impressive appearances after breaking into the first-team under Erik ten Hag. But it seems that the 18-year-old isn’t the only famous face in his family.

That’s because people are only now putting two and two together, with the United ace’s older brother being former Love Island star Jordan Mainoo-Hames – who appeared in season five of the UK reality show.

Mainoo-Hames, 28, entered the Mallorca villa in week three of the show and quickly got into a relationship with fellow contestant Anna Vakili before the pair separated when Jordan started eyeing up another islander, India Reynolds, seeing him swiftly booted off the show via a public vote.

Since leaving the island, Mainoo-Hames has gone into the fashion and modelling world, walking for the likes of Vogue, Louis Vuitton and others on the catwalk. Many people made the connection between the brothers after finding an old tweet saying “Proud big bro moment for real” when Mainoo made his U18 United debut at just 15, which resurfaced following his first-team involvement.

Fans reacted to the discovery on Twitter, with one commenting under a picture of Mainoo-Hames’: “Just found out he’s Mainoo’s brother oi wtf”, a second thought the finding was a wind-up, saying: “C'mon don't joke with me mate…” While another joked: “Their parents must have been basketball fans for naming their kids Kobbie and Jordan.”

Mainoo made his United first-team debut against Charlton Atheltic in the FA Cup last January, making his Premier League bow in February in the 3-0 win against Leicester City. However, the England U19 international has had to remain patient after picking up an injury in pre-season which delayed his emergence into the first-team this season.

The Stockport-born midfielder has looked assured on the ball and is sure to be a vital part of the United engine room in the coming years – making his first league start away at Everton last month.
