Free agent Jesse Lingard is set to feature in a behind-closed-doors friendly for West Ham against Ipswich at Rush Green today with the club mulling over a contract offer.

Lingard, without a club since leaving Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest at the end of last season, has been training with the Hammers in Romford to get to full fitness.

West Ham have been deciding whether to offer a short-term deal to Lingard, with manager David Moyes impressed by the 30-year-old Englishman’s application in first-team training at Rush Green.

Lingard is now in line to play for the Premier League side in an arranged fixture against Championship Ipswich.

It has been agreed that the game will not be filmed and no footage will be published by either club.

Lingard previously enjoyed a successful loan at West Ham under Moyes, managing nine goals and five assists in only 16 games when he spent the second half of the 2020-21 season at the London Stadium.

Moyes missed out on adding another attacker to his squad at the end of the transfer window, having lost Gianluca Scamacca and Manuel Lanzini over the summer.

Wolves have also been linked with Lingard.
