Dominic Szoboszlai spotted downing massive shot after qualifying for Euro 2024

Dominic Szoboszlai couldn't help by wince after downing a huge shot of strong alcohol following his masterclass for Hungary.

The 23-year-old, who joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig for £60million in the summer, was at his sublime best to score a sensational solo goal and put the finishing touch on a team move to ensure he'll captain his country at Euro 2024 next year.

Celebrations were wild as the former Red Bull Salzburg man dived into the fans after the full-time whistle – where he was handed a bottled drink that left him wincing – and might've worried his manager at club level.

Szoboszlai is likely to have been downing palinka, a traditional Hungarian fruit spirit that can range in alcohol content between 37% and 86% depending on the brew, thanks to a double distillation process.

One concerned Liverpool fan joked in the comments section: "Put that alcohol down we've got City on Saturday!" A second added: "Someone tell him to calm down. We have Man City!"

A third joked: "When I thought I couldn’t like him anymore… he’s shotting ale down after smashing 2 goals in." A fourth concluded: "Put the bottle down we have City."

Szoboszlai scored two of Hungary's three goals as their 3-1 victory ensured top spot in Group G. Serbia also secured their spot at the final tournament – three points above Montenegro.

The midfielder has impressed under Jurgen Klopp so far at Anfield, but only scored twice in all competitions which has led to calls for his role to be made more attacking.

Szoboszlai scored ten goals in each of his two full seasons in Germany, managing four across 10 appearances for his country so far in 2023.

Back in August, Klopp said that he was shouting at Szoboszlai from the touchline to tell him to get back into position in midfield – but only after his side went down to ten men.

Szoboszlai added: "We are there for each other and if somebody gets sent off then we change some of the things and I go back as a six.

"Even the manager was screaming at me sometimes because I forget it."
