Chelsea can profit off bitter rivals Spurs and hand player desirable transfer

Chelsea could sell wantaway defender Trevoh Chalobah to bitter rivals Tottenham during the January transfer window as part of a deal that benefits all parties involved. Spurs are on the lookout for a new centre-back in the New Year and Chalobah would serve as a decent back-up for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

The north Londoners have put Eric Dier up in the shop window this winter after failing to offload him at the start of the season. According to multiple reports, Dier isn’t happy with the amount of game time he has been getting at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and intends to run down his deal unless he is sold.

Spurs are hoping to cash in on him next month as they look to restructure their backline. Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and Lloyd Kelly of Bournemouth have been linked with moves to Tottenham but one name that hasn’t been mentioned in the same conversation is Chalobah.

The 24-year-old has plenty of Premier League experience and was once one of Chelsea’s hottest academy prospects. Unfortunately, things haven’t worked out the way Chelsea would have hoped for but Chalobah’s potential is still clear to see.

Chelsea accepted a £25million bid from Nottingham Forest for the player over the summer but Chalobah reportedly rejected the proposal as he was intent on joining Bayern Munich instead. The Bavarian giants entered into talks with Chelsea about signing the player over the summer, however, the German outfit pulled the plug on discussions to focus their attention on other transfer targets.

Chelsea are desperate to sell Chalobah and although they don’t usually do business with Tottenham they would surely jump at the opportunity to profit off their rivals here.

Chalobah still has five years remaining on his deal at Stamford Bridge and would be available for around £25m. The Blues star hasn’t played for his boyhood club since last season when he featured 33 times in all competitions.

Chalobah was a regular in Thomas Tuchel’s set-up but has fallen out of favour with new boss Mauricio Pochettino, who opted to put him up for sale in the summer.
