Watford have paid tribute to a fan after he tragically died of a heart attack during a game.
The incident occurred in the first half of a match between Watford FC Women and Sheffield United in the WSL 2 on Sunday, November 19. Long-time fan Peter Arokiasamy suddenly suffered a heart attack at Vicarage Road before receiving treatment from the paramedics.
Arokiasamy, a Watford resident for 50 years, was taken to hospital in an ambulance but sadly passed away. His family and the Championship club have been left in mourning.

Watford’s statement on Wednesday read: “All at Watford FC were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a supporter who attended the Watford FC Women fixture against Sheffield United on Sunday November 19.
“Peter Arokiasamy, a football enthusiast who had lived in Watford for 50 years, passed away in hospital having suffered a heart attack during the first half of the match at the Vicarage Road Stadium.
“On-site staff from St John Ambulance were alerted immediately to the incident by stewards, with paramedics and the Crowd Doctor also called to the scene. An ambulance arrived soon after and transported Peter to Harefield Hospital.
“Watford FC representatives have been in contact with Peter’s family – who expressed their gratitude to the club for the timely and expert care he received – and our thoughts are with all relatives and friends at this extremely difficult time.”
The Hornets went on to lose 3-1. They have not played a league game since the incident, though they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA WSL Cup three days later.
Watford FC Women will next face Southampton in a FA Women’s Cup clash this weekend. They will then turn their attention to next Sunday’s fixture against London City in an attempt to turn their season around, having been left bottom of the league with just one win in 11 matches.
