Liverpool and Tottenham have been sent a message by Brighton’s loan star Ansu Fati as he prepares to make a decision on his Barcelona future next summer. The two Premier League clubs are reportedly keen to recruit the talented winger after watching him shine for the South Coast outfit, having joined them on a season-long loan move back in August, and Fati has now addressed his future plans.
Fati has not only featured for Roberto De Zerbi’s side, he has flourished and earned himself a starting role for Brighton. With four goals in 13 appearances this season already, the Spain international has earned plaudits for his performances – with Liverpool and Spurs both taking note of his seamless transition from Spanish football to the Premier League.
However, the player’s desire to return to Barcelona when his loan stint concludes could throw a spanner in the works.
According to Catalan publication Sport, Fati’s ‘absolute priority’ is to rejoin the Barca squad next summer when his loan contract expires on June 30 as he believes he can win back his place in the team. He also hopes to win his place back in the Spain national team ahead of Euro 2024.

The La Liga giants’ view on Fati’s future is somewhat different, though, which could provide some encouragement to the Premier League duo.
Their idea was to loan out Fati and raise funds from his departure to spend elsewhere as he is regarded as a squad player, and they could make him available for just £25million (€30m) – representing a huge discount on the £100m price tag Manchester United were quoted two years ago.
He snubbed Tottenham’s advances in August when he chose to join Brighton, while Liverpool are keeping close tabs on his situation. But such a price would surely appeal to Liverpool and Spurs despite his injury record, with Fati’s performances indicating he still has his best years ahead of him.

The 21-year-old burst onto the scene at the Camp Nou at the age of 16, becoming the club’s youngest goalscorer and second-youngest appearance-maker in their history. However, a serious knee injury kept him sidelined for several months and he struggled for game time. The main reason for his loan switch was to help him regain his fitness and confidence, and many would argue that all three parties would be delighted with the results.
But Fati is adamant that he wants another year in the team working under Xavi Hernandez to prove his worth. His contract expires in 2027 and with a release clause totalling an eye-watering £876m (€1bn), Barcelona won’t be able to force him out if he turns down a move elsewhere.
The report adds that the player and his entourage are aware there will be offers at the end of the season and the Blaugrana could be tempted to negotiate, with the emergence of teenage sensation Lamine Yamal likely to take priority over Fati’s reintroduction into the squad.
