Liverpool and Arsenal ‘ready’ to make £35m bid for five-game starlet Yildiz

Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly ‘readying’ offers for Juventus striker Kenan Yildiz. Reports in Italy claim that the Turkey international has interest from Premier League clubs preparing to take advantage of Juve’s financial problems.

The Serie A giants could reportedly be tempted into the departures of several stars in the January transfer window. Yildiz has caught the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs since his switch from Bayern Munich’s academy in 2022.

An 18-year-old forward, Yildiz has already made his debut for Turkey’s senior team and scored his first international goal against Germany in November. He has a contract with Juve until 2027 but has been linked with an exit.

It is claimed that Liverpool and Arsenal both hope to bolster their forward lines with the addition of the Germany-born star. According to Calciomercato, Liverpool sporting director Jorg Schmadtke recommended the teenager to Jurgen Klopp during the summer transfer window.

Juve reportedly have no plans to sell the player in January as they are intent on giving their young players a chance amid their financial woes. However, Yildiz is supposedly seeking improved game time having featured for only 36 Serie A minutes this season.

The report adds that interested clubs would need to pay around £35m to sign Yildiz. Given both clubs have played down their interest in engaging in vast amounts of business in January, Liverpool and Arsenal will likely need to negotiate down that fee.

Yildiz’s versatility would make him an excellent addition to any Premier League club. He can play as a centre-forward or as a No 10, and can perhaps be coached to play deeper than that.

It is unclear if Liverpool and Arsenal will turn their reported interest in Yildiz into an official bid. Reds boss Klopp insists his side will only dip into the transfer market if top players are made available, having lost Joel Matip to a potentially season-ending knee injury.

Arsenal could try to sign a forward but have been more strongly linked with Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney. Osimhen could be more attainable in the summer, with Napoli unlikely to sell midway through the campaign. Toney will return from his eight-month football ban on January 16.

Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have both struggled for consistency as Arsenal’s No 9. The Gunners may need a prolific forward if they are to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League title.
