Balor lost the Intercontinental Championship to Shinsuke Nakamura last Sunday night at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The Extraordinary Man was then defeated by Samoa Joe on RAW and went on to suffer a horrifying attack by the returning Bray Wyatt, who appeared as his alter ego The Fiend.
According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, the Irish superstar requested for some time off in order to recharge.
The inaugural Universal Champion’s request was reportedly granted and his hiatus will begin sometime in August after SummerSlam.
The Irishman’s break will last for two months, which means he will be back before Survivor Series.
Balor hinted that he will not be around for a little while with a photo on Twitter showing him with the Intercontinental Championship.
The 37-year-old grappler captioned the image with: “Bye bye.”
Wyatt’s attack on Balor could set up a fight between them at SummerSlam on August 11 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
If WWE book that bout then The Eater of Worlds looks set to win and could be credited for the ex-NXT Champion’s absence.
The wrestling giants look set to push Wyatt as a dominating force and could start by claiming he put Balor on the shelf.
The two WWE superstars have some history with each other as they feuded in 2017 in a hapless angle.
They were set to battle at TLC but Wyatt was ruled out of commission due to a reported illness.
WWE replaced him with AJ Styles who was beaten by Balor in a stunning encounter.
For the next two years the two wrestling heroes didn’t have any run-ins with each other.
