Reigns has been booked in a storyline that saw him almost getting killed twice from falling scaffolding and a hit and run on SmackDown and RAW respectively.
The Big Dog tried to find out who was behind those two incidents last Tuesday night and beat the truth out of Buddy Murphy who was present when the improperly secured lighting equipment almost injured the four-time world champion.
Murphy told him that Bryan’s associate Rowan was behind the attack and many expected WWE to book a match out of it between The Planet’s Champion and Reigns.
However, the publisher and editor of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Dave Meltzer claims the fight won’t happen.
[WWE] lost their timing on it and now, it’s not ready for SummerSlam
Meltzer stated that WWE “lost their timing on it and now, it’s not ready for SummerSlam” ahead of tonight’s show at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
And that makes sense as the angle was put together only two weeks before the legendary Pay-Per-View show
However, the professional wrestling expert imagines Reigns and Bryan will be involved in the biggest event of the summer in Canada in some capacity.
Meltzer added that this “may lead to something on the following Pay-Per-View” shows.
That means either Bryan and Reigns will face off in Singles competition soon or Rowan and Samoa Joe will team up with each respective superstar for a Tag Team Match.
Joe tried to help the former Universal Champion after he was almost run over by another car in what appeared to be a face turn.
Bryan has been putting off a career-altering announcement that he was meant to make weeks ago.
This could align with the upcoming angle against Reigns.
SummerSlam, though, is expected to feature a lot of action with some of the biggest superstars in WWE.
The show seems set to be main-evented by Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins.
