Fulham’s Raul Jimenez\u00a0has been slammed for his red card tackle against Newcastle, which has been compared to ‘an awful kung-fu kick’.<\/p>\n
Jimenez was initially booked for the challenge on Sean Longstaff before a VAR check led to the Mexican striker being given his marching orders.<\/p>\n
While it appears Jimenez’s foot did not connect with Longstaff, the Fulham player looked out of control as he connected with the Newcastle player’s face.<\/p>\n
On Soccer Saturday, Sky Sports presenter Simon Thomas likened the tackle to ‘an awful kung-fu kick’.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mail Sport’s man at the ground Craig Hope wrote on X: ‘Seen a replay… that has to be a red card.’<\/p>\n

When referee Sam Barrott upgraded the card, Hope added: ‘And so it is… Raul Jimenez sent off for serious foul play. He was out of control & landed his airborne backside in the face of Sean Longstaff’.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Fans on social media were similarly quick to slam the Mexican for the dangerous tackle, with one claiming it was ‘Stupid stupid stupid by Raul Jimenez’, and a second adding: ‘Not sure how Raul Jimenez can argue that one lol’.<\/p>\n
Another X (formerly Twitter) user said: ‘Jimenez kicked out at AND threw his body at Longstaff. Wild’.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘Incredibly stupid and dangerous by Jim\u00e9nez,’ wrote another, adding ‘Definite red card’.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Another noted: ‘Raul Jimenez! Very reckless! A red card all day! Too careless’\u00a0<\/p>\n
