Ex-Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has brutally dubbed Tottenham ‘Bottlejob FC’ after Ange Postecoglou’s side suffered another defeat despite going ahead in a match. Spurs led West Ham 1-0 in Thursday’s Premier League clash, only to lose 2-1.

It was the fifth consecutive game in which Spurs had scored the first goal but ultimately failed to win the game. The north Londoners have taken the lead against Chelsea, Wolves, Aston Villa, Manchester City and now West Ham – but have won just one point from those five fixtures.

A thrilling 3-3 draw against City is the only point injury-hit Spurs have earned during that run. Defeats against Chelsea, Wolves, Villa and West Ham have derailed the club’s early title challenge.

Five matches without a victory despite having led in each game is now a top-flight record. Many on the red side of north London have taken solace in Spurs’ plight over the last few weeks.

Outspoken former midfielder Ozil has dubbed Postecoglou’s side ‘Bottlejob FC’ in a hilarious social media takedown of Arsenal’s neighbours. The German posted on X: “Who else should be able to break that record? Bottle Job FC is back.”
