Seven Man Utd transfers Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants answers for as trio set for January exits

Manchester United could be just one of the Premier League clubs who decide to delve into the transfer market in January. The Red Devils have been exposed time and time again this season and are on the verge of exiting the Champions League following their 3-3 draw with Galatasaray on Wednesday night. Arsenal came unstuck during the latter stages of last season and they were leapfrogged by eventual champions City. And the Gunners could also attempt to bolster their squad in January, a year after they missed out on Mykhaylo Mudryk to Chelsea.

Chelsea have been linked with a whole host of players ahead of the January window as Todd Boehly continues to bankroll the club. And the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle and Aston Villa will also be under pressure to spend in their quest to keep pace with the teams ahead of them in the table.

Chelsea will reportedly pull the plug on two transfer agreements in January in order to please Mauricio Pochettino.

Andrey Santos has endured a nightmare loan spell at Nottingham Forest, with the 19-year-old having played just seven minutes of Premier League football this season. And the Blues are ready to bring Santos back to Stamford Bridge at the turn of the year in order to avoid harming his development, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Man Utd can trigger clause

Manchester United could take advantage of a bargain transfer opportunity next summer, with Jeremie Frimpong’s Bayer Leverkusen contract reportedly containing a modest release clause. The marauding full-back is putting up superb numbers in the Bundesliga this season as Xabi Alonso’s side look set for a title battle with Bayern Munich.

However, Sky Germany are reporting that the long-term deal includes a £34.6million release clause, which becomes active next summer. Leverkusen may regret setting the bar so low given Frimpong’s scintillating form.
