Robbie Savage’s praise of Bruno Fernandes immediately backfired as the United skipper gave away a free-kick which led to a Galatasaray goal.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Portuguese had warranted merit for his stunning 18th-minutes goal which gave Erik ten Hag’s side a two-goal advantage in their crucial Champions League clash.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But fans were taken aback by his insistence on lauding the midfielder for tracking back during a subsequent attack.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Savage was made to regret his adulation only moments later when former Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech\u00a0gave the Turkish side a route back into the game from the resulting set-piece.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Viewers quickly took to social media to poke fun at the United academy product, with one writing on X: ‘Robbie Savage there fawning over Fernandes as he brings down the Galatasaray player on the edge of the box, only for United to concede from it.’<\/p>\n

‘Fernandes is a great player but savage desperately trying to make him seem like a great captain.’ Another wrote. ‘”See look at him chase back\u2019 like that\u2019s not a normal requirement. Then player gives needless foul away.’<\/p>\n
A third noted: ‘I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever seen a bigger commentator\u2019s curse in football like I\u2019ve seen with Robbie Savage praising Bruno Fernandes for tracking back, giving a foul, and giving a goal away from the foul.’<\/p>\n
United restored their two-goal advantage after the break through Scott McTominay before goals from Ziyech and\u00a0Muhammed Kerem Akturkoglu levelled things up in Turkey.<\/p>\n
