Andre Onana will want to quickly forget about his trip to Turkey after the Manchester United goalkeeper made some huge errors in the 3-3 draw with Galatasaray. Express Sport takes a look at four things learned from the dramatic match in Istanbul.

Onana a day to forget

He’s had a difficult first few months since moving to Old Trafford but this was arguably the worst of the lot. The mistake for Hakim Ziyech’s second goal ruined all the hard work his team-mates had done to put United 3-1 up with momentum soon changing to Galatasaray.

Karem Akturkoglu then fired in past Onana on his near post to level the match with some accusing the United stopper for his positioning. Beating Galatasaray was a must for United and they had the job done, but Onana’s off day has cost them dearly.

Bruno Fernandes steps up

Fernandes’s thunderbolt of a strike came at a crucial stage of the match for United and silenced the home crowd. But the United captain showed his true colours after Alejandro Garnacho’s opener after the winger wheeled off to celebrate in front of the Galatasaray supporters.

The Turkish crowd had been heavily booing the Premier League outfit whenever they got on the ball and Garnacho teased the supporters after his goal. But Fernandes didn’t like his team-mate doing that and told Garnacho off with the United players apologising before walking away.

Ten Hag’s job on the line?

United looked back on track with an impressive 3-0 win over Everton at the weekend, a convincing victory Ten Hag desperately needed. But United looked nervous and out of ideas against Galatasaray when the Turkish side came back into it in the second half.
