    Exeter City boss Gary Caldwell was brutally told in court that he has as many points on his licence as the struggling League One club have this season.<\/p>\n

    The former Scotland appeared in Magistrates Court earlier this month after being clocked driving his Audi A6 at 79mph on the M5 and also recorded doing 47mph in a 40mph zone in Barnsley this year. Those offences totalled up on a number of previous spending offences which date back to 2020.<\/p>\n

    The latest six point convictions saw him tot up more than 12 points, the mark at which any driver is given an automatic six-month ban, on his licence and subsequently banned from driving for the six month period. And as if his day couldn\u2019t have got any worse, he received a brutal jibe about his management record at Exeter.<\/p>\n

    According to Devon Live, in court, Caldwell agreed he \u201cdoesn\u2019t have the best\u201d driving record and it was savagely pointed out that he has now amassed as many points on his licence as the Grecians do in the league.<\/p>\n

    Caldwell appeared in court just days after Exeter was hammered 7-0 away at table toppers Bolton Wanderers last Saturday. Exeter were able to bounce back with a clean sheet on Tuesday night in their 0-0 draw at home against Shrewsbury Town to pick up their 18th point of the season and remain two points above the drop zone.<\/p>\n

    The former Celtic and Wigan Athletic centre-back took charge at St James Park in October last year and guided Exeter to a 14th place finish in the table. A similar finish this season could be welcomed with the club currently winless in their last nine League One games, last winning on September, 16, where they won all of their five opening games.<\/p>\n

    Caldwell claimed that a disqualification from driving would make it \u201cextremely difficult\u201d for him to travel the country in order for him to recruit new players for the struggling side. But while Magistrates said it would make his job harder, it didn\u2019t amount to exceptional circumstances.<\/p>\n
