Newcastle co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi has backtracked on his previous claims that the club’s fans ‘need to be louder’ asserting that his ‘love for the club and its supporters is unwavering.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ghodoussi’s rallying call came after their 4-1 victory against Chelsea on Saturday, but attracted the attention of many fans who hit back at his comments, stating that the club needs to improve its ticketing systems.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Newcastle co-owner wrote on X (formerly Twitter): ‘What a team. We need to give these guys more support in the stadium, we need to be louder, we need to be the 12th man.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Magpies currently sit seventh in the table, having only dropped points in two of their previous league outings. On Tuesday they come up against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes and Ghodoussi spoke out on his previous comments on social media, claiming his words may have been misunderstood.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘Often, our intentions and words don’t align perfectly,’ he wrote on X.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He posted the rallying cry on social media following his side’s 4-1 victory against Chelsea<\/p>\n

But ahead of the Magpies’ clash against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, he took to X to re-affirm his commitment and love for the football club<\/p>\n

‘I believe most of you know how deeply I’m committed to this club; my heart beats in black and white and my love for the club and all of you is unwavering.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘Let’s keep our fingers crossed for tonight, we stand united. Here’s to us and our journey together. Howay the lads.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
But he faced some criticism from Newcastle fans following his earlier post, with one writing: ‘This club has added a new \u00a3800-per-game hospitality package this season designed for tourists, has one of the largest ticket touting problems in the Premier League and has awful pre-match build up.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘Our half time entertainment is the announcer reading out birthday messages.’<\/p>\n
Another added: ‘I think it’s hard for people to get organised and set up things\/songs\/chants when they’re not sat together. Have folks picked their seats, sit with their friends and it will probably improve.’<\/p>\n
‘Bring back the old ticketing system and you won’t have any problem with that,’ another added.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Magpies claimed a huge win at home against Chelsea on Saturday with all of Alexander Isak, Jamaal Lascelles, Joelinton and Anthony Gordon scoring.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Howe’s side also sit bottom of Group F in the Champions League and need a win against PSG to keep their qualification hopes alive<\/p>\n
Newcastle fans also turned St James’ Park into a bearpit for their home leg against PSG back in October, where they thumped the Ligue 1 giants 4-1.<\/p>\n
Despite that, Eddie Howe’s side sit bottom of Group F after suffering back-to-back defeats by Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Since Newcastle’s \u00a3305million takeover was completed in 2021,\u00a0Ghodoussi’s side have climbed up the Premier League, achieving qualification for the European competition for the first time in approximately 20 years.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But questions have been raised over their takeover, with some Newcastle fans urging the Premier League to investigate the deal earlier this year.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
