From La Liga to the Championship, Formula One is home to an abundance of football fans, not just in the stands but sitting on the grid. A few share a common interest and could watch their side together.

Some have switched allegiances over the years, an d one driver was in it to buy one of his club’s biggest rivals!

A Grand Prix for the drivers is a battle of wit, tactics, and a physically gruelling ordeal, sometimes competed in boiling temperatures and pouring rain. But that's nothing compared to watching your side hold on to a 1-0 win, is it?

Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso

The only two Spaniards to ever be victorious in a Formula One Grand Prix channeled that winning mentality from their football club. Both former world champion Alonso and Ferrari’s Sainz are disciples of Los Blancos, the ever-present, always amazing Real Madrid.

The pair have publicly spoken about their love for the Spanish giants and attempt to catch their Champions League nights amid the drivers’ demanding schedule. With Jude Bellingham as the hook, line and sinker for their team, Sainz and Alonso will have some enjoyable days to come as fans of Real Madrid.

Charles Leclerc

The Monégasque man doesn’t just watch football but often plays it, and he supports the team you'd think he would, his local AS Monaco of Ligue 1. Like his Ferrari team, Monaco dons red and is often at the top of the French leagues, most known for being a conveyor belt for top-class talent.

Have you heard of Kylian Mbappe? He started his career at Monaco before switching to the dark blue of Paris Saint Germain. Other players like Manchester City's Bernardo Silva and Manchester United's Anthony Martial have also played for the club.

Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton has his sister to blame for being a Gunner. He has spoken previously about how she influenced him to become an Arsenal fan. Hamilton shocked everyone when he announced his intention to join a consortium that had hoped to purchase Chelsea last year.

This never amounted to anything, and Hamilton again blames his uncle for his attempted involvement with the Blues. His uncle Terry is a Chelsea fan, and Hamilton occasionally goes with him to watch both clubs battle it out on the pitch, as Hamilton often does on the circuit.

George Russell

The tiffany green of Mercedes may not be Goerge Russell's favourite colour, as you'd think that might be orange based on the club he supports.

George’s dad is a season ticket holder at Wolverhampton Wanderers, meaning Russell’s allegiances lie with Wolves.

Although his schedule doesn’t allow him to join his dad often, who is there week in, week out, he does state that every time he attends a game, he “gets converted into an even bigger fan.”
