<\/p>\nFans joked that Chelsea \u201care back\u201d after suffering a woeful 4-1 defeat at Newcastle on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Hopes of Mauricio Pochettino\u2019s side continuing their impressive performances from before the international break were immediately dashed when the Magpies took the lead 13 minutes in, courtesy of Alexander Isak.<\/p>\n
Chelsea managed to equalise 10 minutes later with Raheem Sterling\u2019s stunning free-kick, but crumbled in the second half as Jamaal Lascelles and Joelinton put the game out of reach. And with Anthony Gordon netting the fourth for the home side at St. James\u2019 Park, both the performance and result were more reminiscent of Chelsea\u2019s dismal showing over the past year and a half.<\/p>\n

Individual mistakes were decisive, with Thiago Silva gifting Newcastle a goal and Reece James picking up a red card. And Blues supporters and rival fans took to social media to poke fun at Chelsea\u2019s return to mediocrity, having secured a 4-4 draw against Manchester City in a thrilling fight back before the international break.<\/p>\n
\u201cChelsea are back,\u201d one user tweeted, while another added: \u201cThis is just embarrassing.\u201d<\/p>\n

And a frustrated Pochettino was in agreement, saying at full-time: "We didn't show we were playing for something important. That makes me angry and disappointed. Even if we are young, it makes me very, very angry. <\/p>\n
