Man Utd are making huge changes ahead of Sir Jim Ratcliffe coming into the club | Football Digest

Erik ten Hag is set to be rewarded for his patience by Manchester United before the end of the year. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to purchase a 25 per cent stake in the Red Devils imminently, and there is reportedly hope that the deal could be completed by the end of the week.

After 12 months of takeover talks, a conclusion is finally set to be reached at Old Trafford. Although a full changing of hands was viewed by many as the ideal resolution to years of anti-Glazers protests, the arrival of Ratcliffe is expected to be a mark of change at the club.

The INEOS owner was initially keen to purchase his boyhood side in full but, like Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani, he was priced out of negotiations. Ratcliffe was insistent that some form of deal would be reached with the Glazers, and his persistence has paid off.

According to Ben Jacobs, United are hoping to confirm that the 71-year-old has acquired a stake in the club by Thursday. The news of a fresh face in the boardroom is expected to be welcomed at all levels of the club.

Ratcliffe wants to oversee the footballing side of United and has plans to rip up the current structure in place and reorganise the system entirely. The Nice owner has highlighted several different directors that he would like to appoint, including ex-Tottenham chief Paul Mitchell.

Ten Hag will be grateful for a new-and-improved structure in place at the Theatre of Dreams, and the former Ajax boss will be relieved to learn that Ratcliffe is keen to provide him with exactly that so that he can concentrate on coaching the team.
