Sri Lanka could be stripped of the right to stage next year\u2019s U19 World Cup at an ICC Board meeting on Sunday after the country was suspended from world cricket due to government interference.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mail Sport <\/span>has learned that dealing with Sri Lanka is at the top of the ICC\u2019s agenda this weekend, with the prospect of moving the U19 World Cup elsewhere emerging as an additional sanction if their suspension remains in place.<\/p>\n The ICC have to make a quick decision as the tournament starts on 14 January and new hosts would need to be found at short notice if it is moved.\u00a0<\/p>\n Sri Lanka Cricket will be represented at this weekend\u2019s Board meetings, but only in an observer capacity.<\/p>\n Sri Lanka\u2019s suspension last week followed complaints from their own cricket Board to the ICC about government interference in many areas including administration, finance and even team selection.\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Sri Lanka could be stripped of the right to stage next year\u2019s U19 World Cup by the ICC after the country was suspended from world cricket due to government interference<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Sri Lanka’s ministry of sport sacked their cricket board after a dismal World Cup performance\u00a0<\/p>\n The country\u2019s sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe had responded to a poor World Cup campaign by sacking the entire Sri Lanka Cricket Board earlier in the week.<\/p>\n In addition to hosting the forthcoming U19 World Cup Sri Lanka are also due to tour England for a three-Test series next summer so the ECB will be monitoring events closely.<\/p>\n
