The VAR audio for Newcastle's winning goal against Arsenal has now been released to the public.

Anthony Gordon proved to be the match-winner 10 days ago, as he fired the ball over the line after a scrappy battle for the ball inside the six-yard box. Joelinton was accused of fouling Gabriel, but the officials decided the goal would stand.

There was additional controversy prior to that too, as the ball was very close to going out of play before being crossed back into the box. However, the camera angles couldn't clarify whether the whole ball had gone over the byline.

A debate over a possible offside in the middle was also argued by Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta left incensed after the match. And now, referee chief Howard Webb has shared the discussions that took place in live time between the officials involved.

Firstly, the officials checked whether the ball had gone out of play, though they were impeded by the lack of a conclusive camera angle. "I've got no conclusive evidence that that ball is out," VAR Andy Madley told assistant Stuart Burt, who agreed, insisting: "You can't go on that angle, although it looks out, you've got the curvature of the ball."

They then moved on to Joelinton's challenge on Gabriel, with Madley noting: "I don't see a specific foul on Gabriel. I see two hands on his back but I don't see anything of a push that warrants him flying forward like that… I'm seeing the ball comes off Joelinton with no specific foul there."

The duo then dismissed ruling the goal out for a potential Joelinton handball as the Brazilian wasn't the goal scorer, before moving on to the subsequent offside check. Awkwardly, Madley appeared to briefly forget the offside rule, though was hastily corrected by Burt.

"OK [Gordon] is clearly on, looking at Gabriel's position there [referring to the fact that Gabriel was closer to the goal than Gordon]," Madley said, before Burt reminded him that David Raya was in fact the last man: "Yeah, but the second rearmost is the goalkeeper."
