Ex-England winger Andros Townsend has revealed he eats chicken feet for dinner.

The former Everton, Crystal Palace, Tottenham and Newcastle United winger recently joined the Hatters last month, after being released by the Toffees at the end of the 2022/23 season which he spent on the sidelines following a horrific ACL injury back in March 2022.

Recently, Townsend appeared on Ben Foster's 'Fozcast' podcast to chat all things football, and life outside of the game. During their lengthy chat, Townsend explained how in the past he struggled with gambling. Back in 2013, the 32-year-old received a four-month ban from football after breaching betting offences.

Following the ban, Townsend committed himself to finding ways to occupy himself, which included learning languages and also playing Pokemon GO. Having not played football for over a season until he signed for Luton, Townsend pivoted from keeping himself occupied to researching new ways that could aid him in his recovery.

And Speaking to Foster and fellow host Tom Ochoa, Townsend explained how chicken feet has impacted upon his body. "Can you imagine as an 18-year-old Andros Townsend getting into all this kind of stuff?" said Foster.

"Honestly, no," replied the Luton winger, before adding: "Even now, every night for dinner I eat chicken feet." "Chicken feet?" said Foster and Ochoa almost incredulously.

Basically, there's so much goodness now that they put into pills and shots that come from chicken feet and random stuff like that.

"Where are you getting your chicken feet from," Foster then said, to which Townsend replied: "Online. I order it in massive batches. It comes frozen.

"I whack a load in the freezer and then I eat them. You can boil them, steam them, I put them in a steam oven, 20 minutes and it's lovely. It's like chicken wings but a chicken's foot.

"Obviously you don't eat the bone, but you have to eat as much of the cartilage and as close to the bone as possible. Like the nails so I have to eat close to the nails too."
