{"id":296631,"date":"2023-11-11T22:15:19","date_gmt":"2023-11-11T22:15:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tellmysport.com\/?p=296631"},"modified":"2023-11-11T22:15:19","modified_gmt":"2023-11-11T22:15:19","slug":"newcastles-eddie-howe-admits-admiration-for-ruben-neves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tellmysport.com\/soccer\/newcastles-eddie-howe-admits-admiration-for-ruben-neves\/","title":{"rendered":"Newcastle&apos;s Eddie Howe admits admiration for Ruben Neves"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Eddie Howe admits admiration for Ruben Neves, but Newcastle boss refuses to be drawn on new Premier League rules that are set to block such a move in Saudi market<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Eddie Howe would be open to signing top players from clubs who share owners<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>He has invited others to speculate on proposed moves which would block deals\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>DOMINIC KING: I don&#8217;t understand what football is anymore &#8211;\u00a0It&#8217;s All Coming Up<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eddie Howe says he would be open to signing the likes of Ruben Neves from Saudi Arabia &#8211; a player he admits he admires &#8211; as he invited others to speculate on the motivation behind new Premier League rules that are set to block such a move.<\/p>\n<p>Mail Sport revealed on Wednesday that a vote will take place at the next shareholder meeting on November 21 to introduce a temporary ban on incoming loans between clubs who share owners, with top-flight rivals set to close the door on Newcastle utilising the Saudi market in January.<\/p>\n<p>Neves, the former Wolves midfielder, plays for Al-Hilal, whose Public Investment Fund owners have an 80 per cent stake in Newcastle.<\/p>\n<p>Howe said: \u2018It\u2019s very difficult to talk about one individual player but, of course, he (Neves) is a player we liked when he was at Wolves.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Others such as Karim Benzema, N\u2019Golo Kante, Roberto Firmino, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Sadio Mane and Aymeric Laporte also play for PIF-owned clubs. Would Howe be open to signing players from Saudi?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/10\/14\/77652551-12734737-image-a-7_1699626052890.jpg\" height=\"409\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Eddie Howe would be &#8216;open to signing players from anywhere&#8217; if they improve Newcastle<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/10\/14\/77652595-12734737-image-a-8_1699626190323.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Howe admires Ruben Neves, and would be open to signing him from the Saudi Arabian league<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I&#8217;m open to signing players from anywhere if they&#8217;re good enough and they make our team better,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Newcastle boss met with reporters on Friday and his press conference was dominated by impending Premier League rule changes that are seen as a means of impeding his club.<\/p>\n<p>Mail Sport also revealed on Thursday that a second rule change could see Newcastle\u2019s ability to agree commercial deals with Saudi companies restricted if they cannot prove multiple offers of the same value. This could yet lead to a legal challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Howe, when pressed on the proposals, said: \u2018I will let you decide why those rules are coming in. That&#8217;s not for me to comment on.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It\u2019s difficult for me to give you chapter and verse because it\u2019s not a situation I\u2019m in any control over. I\u2019m reacting to what is happening. It\u2019s probably better that you draw conclusions to that, not me.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Would Newcastle fight the changes? \u2018You can make that assumption,\u2019 he said, before adding: \u2018We are here to compete on the pitch and all of these things we are discussing are off the pitch. I&#8217;m not involved in those talks, I just see and hear things in the media like you are.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018That&#8217;s where I have to be careful and draw a line with what I can talk about. I&#8217;m not involved in that world, I&#8217;m involved in the football world.
