FC Copenhagen boss Jacob Neestrup has sent a warning to Manchester United ahead of their Champions League tie against the Danish giants on Wednesday.

The two teams face off again in the group stage after a dramatic clash last month when Andre Onana saved Jordan Larsson’s last-gasp penalty to give United a crucial 1-0 victory through Harry Maguire’s goal.

It is a huge game for Erik ten Hag’s side, who are playing catch-up after losing their first two games of the competition to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray, with the Red Devils needing to win in Denmark.

However, ahead of the clash, Neestrup told United to prepare for an intense reception when they turn up at the Parken Stadium, with his side desperate for revenge after their cruel defeat in the reverse fixture.

‘What can they expect?’ he said at his pre-match press conference. ‘I would say with all the respect I felt when I stepped into Old Trafford, then I felt the historical atmosphere.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=X9rio3Wmex8%3Frel%3D0 Copenhagen boss Jacob Neestrup has sent a warning to Man United ahead of tonight’s clash

He insisted the atmosphere at the Parken Stadium is 100 times that of the one at Old Trafford

Neestrup also claimed the intensity of supporters in Denmark is clear of those in England

Your browser does not support iframes.

‘But you can’t compare Old Trafford with Parken because the intensity is times 100 in terms of what we played in two weeks ago. Then this is a standard that, for me, is way above Premier League to be honest.’

Elsewhere in the competition, Neestrup’s side narrowly lost to Bayern Munich 2-1, while they also drew 2-2 away at Galatasaray, meaning they have been involved in three tightly-fought contests.

And the Copenhagen boss insisted he is full of confidence ahead of the clash and felt they were extremely unfortunate to lose at Old Trafford.

He added: ‘For me, it’s not about hope. For me, it’s about strong belief that we can get a result.

‘The penalty miss in the fifth minute of extra-time was what was it was, but it was a totally equal game.

‘I was a little bit surprised about some of the questions I got after the game from English journalists in terms of that we were quite tough to break down.

‘The talk we had at half-time in our dressing-room was that we thought it was tough to break the opponent down. In that picture I think the game over 95 minutes was totally equal and I expect the same on Wednesday.’

https://youtube.com/watch?v=FIdbBwU-ZIU%3Frel%3D0 Neestrup promised the Copenhagen supporters would back their team with pride and passion

He also felt they were unlucky not to get anything from their 1-0 loss at Old Trafford last month

He continued: ‘I also thought it was a perfect time to play Bayern Munich. We play at home, we are a big, big club in Copenhagen, so for me it really doesn’t matter.

‘We need a result. Best case three points, next best it’s one. Four weeks ago we played Bayern Munich in Parken who came with a lot of confidence.

‘I think the game before us they won with five, six or seven goals but we were ourselves and that is our biggest chance to achieve something on Wednesday.

‘It doesn’t matter the shape that United, Bayern Munich or Galatasaray will arrive in.’

It’s All Kicking Off is an exciting new podcast from Mail Sport that promises a different take on Premier League football.

It is available on MailOnline, Mail+, YouTube, Apple Music and Spotify.

Your browser does not support iframes.
