Fans think Dele Alli is on the verge of an Everton comeback after dropping a major hint about his future on social media.

The former Tottenham man hasn't kicked a ball since February and has spent almost the entirety of Sean Dyche's reign out injured. But the Toffees boss revealed he's been chatting to Alli about tactics and has been impressed with the 27-year-old's understanding of his methodology.

He said: "I had a chat with him and I said, 'Dele, what's your thoughts?' and he said, 'I think you need to define with these players when you talk about direct play I think that you mean kick it forwards, but I know you don't.

Alli joined Everton from Tottenham in January 2022, but failed to make much of an impact in his debut campaign, started just one game all season. He then had a disastrous loan spell at Besiktas, which was cancelled mid-way through the season following reports of Alli going AWOL.
