England intend to take their Test top three to the Caribbean later this month as they attempt to rebuild their one-day cricket following a disastrous World Cup.

Ollie Pope, yet to be capped in limited-overs internationals, is set to feature fitness permitting in the squad to take on West Indies, alongside Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett.

England vice-captain Pope, 25, has not played since having surgery on the right shoulder he dislocated during the second Ashes Test at Lord’s in June but if the good progress he has made in recovery continues over the next fortnight, he will be in a travelling party also likely to feature his Surrey team-mate Reece Topley following the finger fracture he suffered in India last month.

The selectors are yet to pick the squads for three one-day internationals and five Twenty20s, but players like Crawley and Duckett were given strong indications during the series against Ireland in September that they would be involved against the Windies as World Cup players would not be considered.
