Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola concedes Roy Keane may be right in his view that it looked like he was showing off after the Manchester derby. The pundit hit out at the Spaniard after watching his former team Manchester United suffer a heavy 3-0 loss at Old Trafford.

Erling Haaland was the star of the show again for City. The Norwegian scored his 10th and 11th Premier League goals of the season to condemn United to their fifth defeat of the campaign.

City players and staff enjoyed the victory with their travelling supporters after the final whistle. TV cameras caught Guardiola and Haaland in deep conversation as they made their way back to the tunnel, clearly talking about the striker’s performance.

Keane was on punditry duty for Sky Sports at the time and wasn’t impressed with what he saw. He said: “It’s all for show. It’s all for show. You can have that chat in the dressing room. What’s the big deal?

“It was a lovely header but you don’t need to be on the pitch talking about it for five minutes. Just get down the tunnel and enjoy your victory.”

Guardiola has spoken for the first time on the incident, admitting Keane has a point. But he insists he didn’t deliberately want to rub United’s noses in it.

Guardiola said: “Maybe Roy is right but it happens. I don’t need at my age to do something for the people.

“Sometimes I go inside, sometimes say hi to the referees. It’s what I feel in the moment. I don’t think after the game to go to the players to do some spectacle for the people.

“I respect a lot Roy Keane but sometimes I finish the game and go inside, sometimes I stay there. When I find a player we chat about the game. I know the camera is there.
