The movie featuring Hollywood star Brad Pitt and Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton has been well-received after the paddock watched some of the footage. F1 bosses showed the drivers segments from the project at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, last month.

Filming for the as-yet-unnamed production has happened at tracks across Europe on race weekends throughout this season. Pitt and co-star Damson Idris were at Silverstone for the British GP, with the former gracing the asphalt in a Formula 2 car for scenes.

Later that summer, shooting continued at the Hungarian GP, but Pitt was not on site. Then, in early September, cameras were also at the Italian GP for further filming.

Production was also scheduled for the previous weekend at the Dutch GP, but did not happen. The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike is said to have impacted the making of the movie.

F1 photographer Kym Illman has revealed on his eponymous YouTube channel how the secret screening went down.

“At the drivers’ briefing in Austin on the Friday night, the drivers were shown a few segments from the upcoming Brad Pitt movie,” the snapper said. “And I had a chat with someone who saw it, and they gave it an 8 out of 10.

“Which is great news because that movie has the opportunity to significantly ramp up interest in the sport of F1.” Illman also reiterated that Pitt has not been back at the track since Silverstone.
