Brentford have reportedly indicated that they’re willing to sell Ivan Toney in the winter transfer window with both Chelsea and Arsenal considering a bid. Toney remains banned from playing professional football after admitting to 232 breaches of FA’s rules on gambling.

But he returned to first-team training last month and has been put on a bespoke 16-week training programme. The striker’s ban officially comes to an end on January 17 with his first potential game back being against Nottingham Forest three days later.

However, speculation is growing on where his future lies in the New Year as he recently changed agents to Jonathan Barnett. Come January, Toney will only have 18 months left on his contract at Brentford with clubs extremely interested in signing the central attacker.

Chelsea are in need of a reliable striker capable of finding the net on a regular basis while Arsenal are keen to bolster their options through the middle also. And it doesn’t appear Brentford will put up too much of a fight to keep Toney in the winter window.

According to the Evening Standard, Brentford ‘are willing to sell the striker’ for the right price. That asking price may be the main stumbling block however with Brentford said to be asking for £80million.

Chelsea’s lavish spending under Todd Boehly and Clearlake showed no signs of stopping in the recent summer window and it’s suggested they’ll be willing to splash the cash once again if necessary. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have struggled for goals this year which has already cost them in the league table.
