Haaland broke records left, right and centre and many thought he’d win the prestigious award but the Barcelona icon’s World Cup success just about edged him out.

Haaland has been scoring goals for fun for years now, really making a name for himself at Red Bull Salzburg before he was snapped up by Borussia Dortmund on his way to Premier League champions Man City.

Haaland has become the most deadly striker in world football, having already scored 13 goals in 15 matches across all competitions this season – including a brace in the weekend’s Manchester derby victory over arch rivals United.

Before his £51million move to Man City, he was grabbing all the headlines thanks to his goalscoring antics with Borussia Dortmund, netting 86 times in 89 fixtures – keeping up his astonishing record of almost a goal in every match.

He earned his move to Dortmund thanks to his form at Red Bull Salzburg where he really started to make a name for himself, scoring 29 times in 27 matches. Before that, he learned his trade at Molde FK, bagging 20 goals in 50 games.
