Clearly he\u2019s lost his players,&#8217; Keys added.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Clearly his \u2018game plans\u2019 are nonsense. Does he really believe that Utd were \u2018toe to toe\u2019 with City in the first-half? Clearly he\u2019s deluded if he does.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/30\/14\/77176541-12688737-image-a-6_1698675427863.jpg\" height=\"390\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys believes the United job is &#8216;too big&#8217; for Ten Hag<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;That was City\u2019s easiest three points of the season. Brighton made them work harder. And Wolves. Even Sheffield Utd gave them more of a run for their money.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Ten Hag&#8217;s decision to substitute \u00a372million striker Rasmus Hojlund in the 73rd minute of Sunday&#8217;s game at Old Trafford was loudly booed by fans inside the ground, while supporters also questioned his team selection after Raphael Varane and Sergio Reguilon were both left on the bench.<\/p>\n<p>Ten Hag later said he had opted to start Victor Lindelof at left back and Jonny Evans next to Harry Maguire for tactical reasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>United have also lacked any discernible style and identity on the pitch this season, although they have had to contend with injuries to a significant number of first-team stars.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ten Hag has spent close to \u00a3400m on new players since his arrival at Old Trafford but two of his big-name signings &#8211; Mason Mount, who cost \u00a360m, and \u00a382m winger Antony &#8211; did not even feature in the starting XI for the derby.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/30\/14\/77169975-12688737-Ten_Hag_s_decision_to_substitute_striker_Rasmus_Hojlund_against_-a-7_1698675491656.jpg\" height=\"450\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Ten Hag&#8217;s decision to substitute striker Rasmus Hojlund against City was loudly booed by fans<\/p>\n<p>Keys added: &#8216;He hasn\u2019t presided over a mess that he inherited as some claim &#8211; he\u2019s created one.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;\u00a3410m spent on bang ordinary players &#8211; most of whom can\u2019t even get in his starting line-up. It\u2019s a shambles. &#8220;Hojlund might turn out to be a good player&#8221; I can hear you saying. I agree &#8211; but for \u00a370m he needs to be a good player now. Utd can\u2019t afford to wait. &#8216;<\/p>\n<p><span>Speaking after the match, Ten Hag said: &#8216;First half, we played very well. The game plan went on how we wanted. We defended very good. They almost didn&#8217;t create &#8211; one big save from Andre in that start. We had two or three breaks, we had to take benefit from it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We have to take more from it, but the penalty is changing the game. I don&#8217;t have a comment on it.
