Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has been warned that a lack of squad depth will be his side’s downfall in a potential Premier League title race. Andy Townsend and Ally McCoist both believe Spurs do not have the resources to maintain their superb start to the season.

Tottenham continued their unbeaten start with a comfortable 2-0 win over Fulham on Monday. Goals from Son Heung-min and James Maddison ensured they went back to the top of the table, two points clear of Manchester City and Arsenal.

Postecoglou has so far been fortunate with a lack of injuries, mostly being able to call upon the same 12 or 13 players from the start of matches. Spurs’ lack of European football this season has surely contributed to that.

That’s the million dollar question, everybody’s the same, everyone gets injuries, suspensions, you name it, whatever.

“Players go out of form, you’ve got to offer other people an opportunity here and there. That’s the only thing for Spurs but there is a lot to like about what they’re doing.”

Postecoglou used all five substitutes during the second half of Monday’s win. But McCoist claims that a clear drop off in performance from the back-up brigade is a concern.
