<\/p>\nBritish tennis ace Emma Raducanu has played down her chances of representing Team GB at the 2024 Olympics in Paris next year.<\/p>\n
Back in 2021, Raducanu shocked the world when she managed to win the US Open in stunning fashion at the age of just 18. Facing off against Leylah Fernandez in the final at Flushing Meadows, Raducanu prevailed 6-4, 6-3 against her fellow teenage opponent.<\/p>\n
Since then, injuries and poor form have plagued the now 20-year-old. Earlier this year, Raducanu underwent surgery on her ankle and both wrists.<\/p>\n

Back in 2021 after her major win, it would have seemed a certainty Raducanu would be out on court representing Team GB in Paris at the Olympics in 2024. But, as she recovers from her injuries, it seems as though the chances of Raducanu donning the Union Jack in France seem slim.<\/p>\n
In order to be able to play at the Olympics, a player must have represented their country at least twice in the sport's national team tournaments, either the Billie Jean Cup for women, or the Davis Cup for men, during the four-year Olympic cycle – which means Raducanu could still feature for Great Britain since she played for them back in April 2022.<\/p>\n

However, given the severity of her injuries, Raducanu is not putting any pressure on herself to make it to the Olympics, instead opting to focus on her recovery. "I didn\u2019t even know I could still play. I was like, there\u2019s no way I can play the Olympics. I had no idea," Raducanu told BBC Radio 4 Today.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously the Olympics is such a big thing in sport. I think I could play another four if I wanted to. So this one isn\u2019t any immediate rush or pressure. I think for me it\u2019s just getting back on court. I love the Slams but of course I would want to have the Olympic experience. I\u2019ll just see how it goes, if I even qualify or how it happens from there.\u201d<\/p>\n
