Max Verstappen appeared to be furious with his Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez during a tight qualifying session in the United States\u00a0Grand Prix.<\/p>\n
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc took pole position in Q3 with\u00a0Carlos Sainz and Mercedes’ <\/span>George Russell\u00a0in fourth and fifth.<\/span><\/p>\n Meanwhile, Verstappen finished down in sixth after his pole lap was deleted for exceeding\u00a0track limits, which could derail his potential 50th race win.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Red Bull driver was in the battle for pole throughout, but it fell apart in the final session.<\/p>\n The 26-year-old could be heard angrily complaining to his radio team seemingly because Perez slowed down on his final corner.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Max Verstappen has finished down in sixth in qualifying at the United States Grand Prix<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The 26-year-old can be heard saying to his team: ‘What the f*** was that on the last corner?’<\/p>\n He shouts to the team: ‘What the f*** was that on the last corner?’<\/p>\n However, analysis shows that Perez was too far ahead to have cost him the 0.252 seconds which he was slower than Leclerc.<\/p>\n Speaking to the media,\u00a0Verstappen said:\u00a0‘It is a bit unfortunate but it makes Sunday a bit more fun.<\/p>\n ‘It is not ideal but I have started further back (and still won). If you have good pace, you will move forwards.’<\/p>\n Behind him, Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon took seventh and eighth in the Alpine, ahead of the second Red Bull of Sergio Perez and McLaren’s Oscar Piastri.\u00a0<\/p>\n Vertsappen,\u00a0who clinched his third successive title in Qatar a fortnight ago, is aiming to become the fifth driver ever to notch a half century, alongside\u00a0<\/span>Lewis Hamilton (103), Michael Schumacher (91), Sebastian Vettel (53) and Alain Prost (51)<\/p>\n Discussing his qualifying position, Leclerc said: ‘I love this track. I love the vibe in the city, everything about the place.\u2019<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Greater analysis has showed that Perez (right) was too far ahead to have cost him the time<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The lower finish could cost the Red Bull driver his 50th win, becoming the 4th driver to do so<\/p>\n
