Australia\u2019s MotoGP at Phillip Island has been brought forward a day after organisers feared Victoria\u2019s inclement weather could impact the showpiece motor sport event.<\/p>\n
Instead of the race being held on Sunday it will take place one day earlier \u2013 on Caulfield Cup day.<\/p>\n

Rain and cold temperatures are forecast.<\/p>\n Race organisers confirmed the switch in a statement on Friday.<\/p>\n \u201cThis decision has been taken proactively in order to guarantee the best and safest possible show for all competitors and fans attending Phillip Island grand prix circuit this weekend,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n The main race will take place at 3.10pm on Saturday, with the sprint event to be held on Sunday, weather permitting.<\/p>\n The bureau of meteorology has forecast a maximum of 16 degrees and a minimum of 10 degrees at Phillip Island on Sunday, with \u201cshowers [and] very windy conditions\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cCloudy. High chance of showers, most likely in the morning and afternoon,\u201d the BOM says.<\/p>\n \u201cWinds northwesterly 30 to 45 km\/h turning westerly early in the morning.
