Eddie Hearn says Tommy Fury is a ‘terrible’ boxer and criticsed his performance against KSI, but did praise the 24-year-old for tricking the system by earning £4million/£5million to fight a YouTuber.

The younger brother of Tyson Fury went toe-to-toe with KSI in Manchester on Saturday night. He emerged victorious, winning via unanimous decision despite having a point deducted.

However, Hearn was less than impressed with Fury’s performance, claiming TNT was a ‘terrible’. The Matchroom promoter went on to speak about Misfits boxing as a whole.

He defended Misfits as a concept and said it was wrong for professional boxers to moan about opportunities being taken away from them. But, he did state crossover boxing was a completely separate entity.

Hearn told The Overlap’s Stick To Football podcast with Sky Bet: ‘Tommy is a professional boxer, but he’s terrible. He’s absolutely swam the channel. He said: ‘The ones that understand the bigger picture and the marketing side of sport get it.

‘But, a lot of them are very unhappy about it. They feel like it’s very unfair. They’re saying I’ve worked my entire life, I’ve been boxing since I was six. But, as far as I am concerned, I don’t care. Tough s*** really.

‘It doesn’t work like that. This guy has built his profile, his business and his following to a point where he has earnt to right to do whatever he wants.

‘I don’t agree with the whole, it’s not fair, it’s taking opportunities away from boxers. I like to say, put it over there. It’s an entertainment format and we are keeping the sport great over here.’

Hearn also shared his thoughts on whether Misfits was dangerous given the fact the fighters have very little boxing experience.

The Matchroom promoter said: ‘I don’t think it’s dangerous. I don’t think any of them are dangerous enough. When you have two people who can’t fight, you can’t really hurt each other can you. You might get a bit tired but you’re not going to take someone’s head off.’
