Ons Jabeur shared her support for Palestinians while condemning acts of violence in Israel as she issued a statement on the ongoing conflict. The two-time Wimbledon finalist called for peace before ending her plea with #FreePalestine.<\/p>\n
The world No 7 posted a passionate message to her Instagram story earlier this week, condemning the attacks by Hamas and the Israeli retaliation while reminding people of the long history of the conflict between Israel and Palestine. \u201cWhat Palestinians have been going through during the last 75 years is indescribable,\u201d the Tunisian tennis star wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat innocent civilians are going through is indescribable; no matter what their religion is, or what their origin is. Violence will never bring peace; I cannot stand with violence but I also cannot stand with people having their lands taken.\u201d<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Jabeur said it was \u201cirresponsible\u201d to ignore the context and history behind the ongoing conflict. She continued: \u201cSo understanding context is important, looking at what\u2019s happening today and deciding to ignore recent history is irresponsible and won\u2019t bring peace.<\/p>\n
