Newcastle transfer target Eduard Spertsyan revealed that he can be signed for just £13million in January ahead of a winter bidding war by at least a couple of Premier League clubs. Attacking midfielder Spertsyan has been linked with several high-profile European clubs.

The 23-year-old has shone for Krasnodar in the Russian Premier League. However, a ban on Russian clubs playing in Europe has prompted the talented playmaker to see a new challenge.

Spertsyan has scored five goals and provided a further three assists in the Russian top flight this term. He bagged 14 goals and as many assists in all competitions last season.

The Armenia international has since said that he could move in the January transfer window, with Newcastle apparently interested. A bargain £13m fee would be enough to prise him away from Russia, the player has himself revealed.

READ MORE: Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Zaniolo leave Italy camp as police ‘quiz’ Prem duo[NEWS]

“Yes (I want to play in Europe soon). I’ve got to fight and work (for it). I don’t want to leave here by running away or with a helicopter!,” Tuttomercatoweb quoted the star as saying while on international duty.

“I like being here. But I want to try to go to Europe while I have the chance, I don’t know what can happen there. I’m confident and I think I can do it, I mean, achieve even bigger goals.”

When asked what fee it would take for him to leave Krasnodar, he said: “About 15 million euros (£13m). At least, [the club president] thinks so.”

Former Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko believes Newcastle would be the perfect destination for Spertsyan. The ex-Premier League star believes it is on Tyneside where he would get the most game time.

We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you. If this interest is real, such offers cannot be refused,” Pavlyuchenko told MetaRatings, who reported Newcastle’s interest in Spertsyan. “I would advise Eduard to go to Newcastle. (At Newcastle) he will play, it seems to me. I would do that.”

Newcastle spent £130m on new signings in the summer transfer window but the Saudi-backed Premier League outfit could lay down more funds in January. Eddie Howe’s side are eighth in the top flight and have thrashed Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

The potential to go far in Europe could tempt Howe to bolster his squad to ensure it copes with a busy fixture schedule.
