Gary Lineker has revealed that he is open to hosting Match of the Day in his pants once again if Leicester City manage to win another Premier League title. The Foxes shocked the world in 2016 when they clinched the honours in England’s top flight, just one year after surviving relegation by the skin of their teeth.

Lineker made a promise before Leicester’s title was confirmed that he would present Match of the Day in his underwear if his beloved club managed to get the job done. He famously went on to open the show in just a pair of boxers after Chelsea’s win over Tottenham meant that Leicester could not be caught at the top of the table.

While it seems unlikely that the Foxes will win the Premier League again, or at least in Lineker’s lifetime, he is willing to repeat his previous antics if the miracle repeats itself at some point further down the line.

Lineker was speaking about the topic on the Match of the Day podcast when he was asked by co-host Micah Richards: “Are you going to do that again any time soon? If they get promoted?” He responded: “If Leicester win the league again, I’ll do it.”

The Foxes are currently top of the table after winning all but one of their opening 11 matches, putting them two points clear of second-placed Ipswich Town and 10 points ahead of Preston North End in third.

Enzo Maresca’s side will certainly be a safe bet to achieve promotion at the end of the campaign as they look to secure an immediate top-flight return. However, it seems as though Lineker is unlikely to be getting his kit off any time soon unless another Premier League trophy somehow ends up at the King Power Stadium.

Follow our Express Sport page on Instagram here.
