Many Manchester United employees are preparing to quit their jobs over the club’s handling of Mason Greenwood and Antony’s domestic abuse cases, according to reports. United chief executive Richard Arnold’s no-holds-barred staff meeting in September has done little to simmer frustrations across the club’s vast workforce.

In October 2022, Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Greenwood denied all allegations, and the charges were dropped in February of this year. United sent him to Getafe on a season-long loan at the start of September.

It then emerged last month that Antony was also under a police investigation after being accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin.

Antony vehemently denied any wrongdoing and returned to United earlier in October after taking a month-long period of leave, on full pay, to support the investigation and address the allegations.

However, there was reportedly a belief among staff members that Arnold was ready to green-light Greenwood’s return after completing a six-month investigation into his arrest.

He is thought to have only made a last-minute U-turn due to the widespread backlash United received on social media after the supposed plans to integrate him into Erik ten Hag’s squad leaked.

But the club have strenuously denied those and suggestions of a Greenwood U-turn.

However, the Mail report that morale among United’s staff has plummeted over the club’s management of the controversial topics.

Many are said to feel their personal beliefs are now conflicted by working for the Red Devils after what they view as a total mismanagement of the situation.

In September, Arnold fielded a selection of hard-hitting anonymous questions about current ongoings at the club. Greenwood and Antony were unsurprisingly on the agenda.

We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you.
