Liverpool legend Xabi Alonso reportedly has a clause in his contract which would allow him to return to Anfield as manager next summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alonso, who played for Liverpool from 2004 to 2009, has impressed as boss of Bayer Leverkusen, who currently sit top of the Bundesliga standings.<\/p>\n
The 41-year-old is a favourite among many Liverpool fans to replace Jurgen Klopp when the German decides to leave the club.<\/p>\n
However, he is also a fan favourite at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, where he also enjoyed successful spells during his playing career.<\/p>\n
German publication BILD, claim that Alonso – who is contracted at Leverkusen until 2026 – has a clause in his deal which would allow him to join any of the three European heavyweights he played for during his career, as early as next summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite his clause, Liverpool are expected to still have Klopp as manager next season, with the German also contracted until 2026 – when he would have been at the club for more than a decade.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The managerial position at Anfield is more secure than that of Bayern Munich or Real Madrid.<\/p>\n
Thomas Tuchel has only been manager at Bayern Munich since March, those it hasn’t been smooth-sailing for the former Chelsea boss.<\/p>\n
Reports last month suggested that Tuchel had been warned about his negative behaviour by Bayern bosses, who were said to be unimpressed with his ‘erratic’ conduct during the summer transfer window.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Real Madrid meanwhile are on the lookout for a new manager, with Carlo Ancelotti set to join Brazil after his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu expires next summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mail Sport\u00a0last week reported that Alonso is at the top of Real Madrid’s wish list, but is also top of Liverpool’s list of coaches beyond the reign of Klopp, and that of Bayern Munich if Tuchel doesn’t work out at the Bundesliga side.\u00a0<\/p>\n
