with the Bayer Leverkusen boss a favourite among fans to be Jurgen Klopp&#8217;s successor at Anfield\u00a0<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Xabi Alonso has a clause which would allow him to join three sides he played for\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b>The Spaniard&#8217;s Bayer Leverkusen side is currently top of the Bundesliga table<\/b><\/li>\n<li><strong>Listen to the latest episode of Mail Sport&#8217;s podcast &#8216;It&#8217;s All Kicking Off!&#8217;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Liverpool legend Xabi Alonso reportedly has a clause in his contract which would allow him to return to Anfield as manager next summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Alonso, who played for Liverpool from 2004 to 2009, has impressed as boss of Bayer Leverkusen, who currently sit top of the Bundesliga standings.<\/p>\n<p>The 41-year-old is a favourite among many Liverpool fans to replace Jurgen Klopp when the German decides to leave the club.<\/p>\n<p>However, he is also a fan favourite at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, where he also enjoyed successful spells during his playing career.<\/p>\n<p>German publication BILD, claim that Alonso &#8211; who is contracted at Leverkusen until 2026 &#8211; has a clause in his deal which would allow him to join any of the three European heavyweights he played for during his career, as early as next summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/11\/11\/76421659-0-image-m-3_1697018678252.jpg\" height=\"534\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Xabi Alonso reportedly has a clause in his contract which would allow him to become Liverpool boss next summer<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/11\/11\/76421661-0-image-m-7_1697018710890.jpg\" height=\"425\" width=\"306\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/11\/11\/76421639-0-image-a-6_1697018707834.jpg\" height=\"425\" width=\"306\"><\/p>\n<p>The Spaniard (left) is a favourite at Liverpool to replace Jurgen Klopp when the German leaves<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Despite his clause, Liverpool are expected to still have Klopp as manager next season, with the German also contracted until 2026 &#8211; when he would have been at the club for more than a decade.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The managerial position at Anfield is more secure than that of Bayern Munich or Real Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Tuchel has only been manager at Bayern Munich since March, those it hasn&#8217;t been smooth-sailing for the former Chelsea boss.<\/p>\n<p>Reports last month suggested that Tuchel had been warned about his negative behaviour by Bayern bosses, who were said to be unimpressed with his &#8216;erratic&#8217;
