The curious chemistry between Carlos Alcaraz and Dan Evans produced another mini-classic on Monday.<\/p>\n
Meeting in the third round of the Shanghai Masters event, the two again brought the best out of each other, producing a dazzling array of rallies before the world No 2 came through 7-6, 6-4.<\/p>\n
Just as when they faced off at the US Open, the level of tennis and handskills on show was often of mesmeric quality.<\/p>\n
Evans was given a rousing ovation as he left the court, \u2018It was one of the toughest matches I\u2019ve played so far outside of the Grand Slams,\u2019 Alcaraz said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018Every time I face Daniel it\u2019s a tricky match. I think both of us played a high quality of tennis and I\u2019m really\u00a0happy to get through.’<\/p>\n
