Romero arrived for \u00a342million, a huge fee, from Atalanta but for all his obvious talent spent his first two years in London as if one reckless tackle from suspension or injury, while giving off strong vibes that he\u2019d rather be playing for Argentina.<\/p>\n<p>It has been a different story under Postecoglou from the moment early in the first game of the season at Brentford when he scored despite taking a blow to the head and pleaded to stay on when it was clear he had to come off. There is more composure and control to his football. It appears the decision to make him one of the team\u2019s new vice-captains at the dawn of this new era seems to have had the desired effect.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Maybe,\u2019 agreed Postecoglou, after Romero, 25, finished the game with the captain\u2019s armband. \u2018And maybe a bit of maturity. Working with him, he\u2019s just an outstanding defender. He\u2019s a good player as well. His passing range, his ability to really position himself well, to stay calm and then just ridiculous bravery to put his body in there.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Over the first eight games, Spurs have not looked anywhere near as fragile as they did in recent seasons when sitting deep with a packed defence and screening it with protective midfielders.
