Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou would be happy to scrap VAR.

Spurs benefited from an error in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Liverpool, after VAR Darren England failed to award a goal to Luis Diaz, whose strike was incorrectly ruled out for offside.

On the day the Premier League and referees’ chiefs committed to regularly releasing the audio of VAR decisions, Postecoglou said: ‘I would (scrap VAR) in its current form. I don’t think technology is ready for our game. I’ve got absolutely zero against goal-line technology, that’s a no-brainer.

‘With VAR, we think it’s going to eliminate errors and the more we use it, the worse it’s going to get.

‘What I always loved about England was the frenetic pace of football. Why are we trying to take that out? None of us like it when they are taking so long to make a decision and it sounded like last week they were rushing it. I don’t think the technology is suitable.’

Ange Postecoglou has admitted that he doesn’t think the technology used by VAR is suitable

Tottenham were the beneficiaries of a glaring mistake by VAR in their game against Liverpool

Wolves manager Gary O’Neil is braced for more errors this weekend. England boss Gareth Southgate this week said football was better pre-VAR and asked if he agreed, O’Neil said: ‘It’s getting close to there now. I am more confused about it now than I have ever been.

‘It either needs improving or scrap it and go back to where we were. I don’t trust we will get the right conclusion this weekend all the time.’
