{"id":293392,"date":"2023-10-06T08:25:23","date_gmt":"2023-10-06T08:25:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tellmysport.com\/?p=293392"},"modified":"2023-10-06T08:25:23","modified_gmt":"2023-10-06T08:25:23","slug":"west-ham-boss-moyes-has-a-go-at-tnt-journalist-over-bowen-questions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tellmysport.com\/soccer\/west-ham-boss-moyes-has-a-go-at-tnt-journalist-over-bowen-questions\/","title":{"rendered":"West Ham boss Moyes &apos;has a go&apos; at TNT journalist over Bowen questions"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>West Ham boss David Moyes &#8216;has a go&#8217; at TNT journalist after questions over Jarrod Bowen&#8217;s England recall before the Hammers&#8217; 2-1 away win in the Europa League<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Jarrod Bowen has scored five goals and assisted two more so far this campaign\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>He scored one of the Hammers most important goals ever at the end of last term\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Click HERE to listen to the latest episode of Mail Sport&#8217;s &#8216;It&#8217;s All Kicking Off&#8217;\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>David Moyes offered a prickly response when asked by a TNT journalist about Jarrod Bowen, after the Hammers star earned himself a recall to Gareth Southgate&#8217;s England squad.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Hammers forward was called up once again to Southgate&#8217;s most recent squad, announced on Thursday, which will take on Australia and Italy later in October.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It has been a strong start to the 2023-24 campaign for the player that scored possible the most important goal in West Ham&#8217;s recent history to win the Conference League last term.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The right winger has scored five and assisted twice in eight games in all competitions so far this season, and with Bukayo Saka potentially struggling for fitness, there could be a place in the starting XI with his name on it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, there was still no place for his new team-mate James Ward-Prowse &#8211; but Moyes was clearly not in the mood to talk about the Three Lions squad ahead of Thursday&#8217;s Europa League clash with Freiburg.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/06\/08\/76238069-0-image-a-82_1696577783906.jpg\" height=\"435\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Jarrod Bowen has scored five and assisted two more in his first eight matches this season<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/06\/08\/76238895-0-image-m-101_1696578519036.jpg\" height=\"446\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>David Moyes offered a bristly retort ahead of his side&#8217;s important 2-1 away Europa League win<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/06\/08\/76238115-0-image-a-87_1696577909402.jpg\" height=\"460\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Gareth Southgate recalled Bowen for the first time since last September on Thursday<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>TNT Sport&#8217;s Archie Rhind-Tutt asked Moyes about why he thought Bowen had been recalled, adding: &#8216;What are the qualities that have made him stand out in your team?&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But he was met with the unexpectedly bristly response: &#8216;Well I&#8217;m not going to answer anything about Jarrod getting in the England team before a West Ham cup game tonight so let&#8217;s keep to the West Ham questions please.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>A bemused Rhind-Tutt responded: &#8216;But just the qualities he&#8217;s shown in your team then.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Moyes then seemingly softened a touch, replying with: &#8216;He&#8217;s a really good player. He can play many positions and we&#8217;ll use him in different positions tonight.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Rhind-Tutt took to X, formerly known as Twitter, afterwards to say: &#8216;David Moyes had a go at me and I&#8217;m still not sure why,&#8217; sharing their interaction on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Moyes has a history of bizarre interactions with the media, having once called a journalist out for calling him &#8216;Moyesy&#8217; as well as an angry exchange with one of his own players.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The West Ham boss was not the only one asked of his players&#8217; England status, with Ward-Prowse also grilled on being left out.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Yeah, huge disappointment [not to be selected for England duty],&#8217; said Ward-Prowse.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/06\/08\/76238185-0-image-a-84_1696577791384.jpg\" height=\"467\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Bowen had not been called up to the England squad since last September and has four caps<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/06\/08\/76238501-0-image-a-86_1696577826961.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>James Ward-Prowse was however left out of the squad to face Australia and Italy this month<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/06\/08\/76238495-0-image-a-85_1696577823628.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The former Southampton skipper assisted Nayef Aguerd&#8217;s winner for West Ham on Thursday<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Like I said many times in interviews, you can only control what you can control as a player, and that&#8217;s playing to a certain level that you believe is good enough to be in that squad.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It&#8217;s important that you play regularly and I&#8217;m doing both at the minute.
