Liverpool's Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai alerted medical personnel to an emergency in the stands at Anfield during their Europa League clash with Union Saint-Gilloise.

Jones and Szoboszlai had been warming up on the touchline, after Jurgen Klopp named a rotated squad for their European clash. However, the pair were forced to flag paramedics when they were alerted to an incident in the main stand.

The midfielder was forced to jog up the touchline to get the paramedics so the individual could receive attention. The incident occurred midway through the first-half, with Liverpool level with the Belgian side.

Jones was dropped from the starting side after he was sent off against Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend. The Englishman had lunged into a challenge, and handed a yellow card for his troubles – but following a VAR check that was upgraded to a red.

Liverpool had attempted to appeal the red card and the subsequent three-match ban, which only applies to domestic games, but they saw their challenge rebuffed by the Premier League. Klopp opted to pick Ryan Gravenberch over Jones on Thursday.

And it was the Dutchman who opened the scoring for the Reds against the Belgian side. Klopp's side worked the ball up the left-hand side of the pitch, before Trent Alexander-Arnold let fly from the edge of the area.

Union Saint-Gilloise keeper Anthony Moris was unable to hold the shot, and Gravenberch was in the right place at the right time to roll the ball into the back of the net.

Liverpool should have already been ahead, but Darwin Nunez was unable to convert from point blank range.
