It\u2019s a great time for the ladies,&#8217; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It is a great time for the ladies\u2019 game. When I was England manager [from February 1999 to October 2000], I went to coach the England ladies and I had this perception of what the quality would be like and they were so much better than I thought they were going to be.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I joined in and then I thought, &#8220;I\u2019m getting out of this&#8221;. I couldn\u2019t get the bloody ball and one of them nutmegged me, that finished me off.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>He also singled out BBC Sport presenter Gabby Logan for praise.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;There are some very, very good lady presenters and I\u2019m working with one in two days\u2019 time, Terry Yorath\u2019s daughter, Gabby [Logan],&#8217; he said.<\/p>\n<p>However, he claimed women pundits were not in a position to commentate on men&#8217;s football.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;If\u00a0I see an England lady footballer saying about England against Scotland at Wembley and she\u2019s saying, &#8220;If I would have been in that position I would have done this&#8221;, I don\u2019t think it\u2019s quite the same,&#8217; he said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/05\/00\/76180193-12595309-Keegan_said_he_did_not_think_women_s_pundits_were_in_a_position_-a-37_1696460634517.jpg\" height=\"425\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Keegan said he did not think women&#8217;s pundits were in a position to commentate on their male colleagues, particularly at international level<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/04\/23\/76182525-12595309-image-a-30_1696460157656.jpg\" height=\"397\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Keegan insisted some women pundits were better than their male counterparts<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/04\/22\/76179711-0-Keegan_singled_out_BBC_Sport_presenter_Gabby_Logan_for_praise_in-a-5_1696455904647.jpg\" height=\"451\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Keegan\u00a0singled out BBC Sport presenter Gabby Logan for praise in his speech<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I don\u2019t think it crosses over that much.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The former Manchester City and Newcastle manager also accused modern pundits of &#8216;talking too much&#8217; and suggested analysts of his generation were no longer wanted by broadcasters.<\/p>\n<p><span>&#8216;I worked with Brian Moore, who was the best. At a World Cup final he would say, &#8220;Kevin, don\u2019t talk too much, let the pictures do the talking&#8221;,&#8217; he said..\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8216;A lot of the pundits now talk too much. Don\u2019t keep talking, talking, talking.
