England Rugby World Cup star Tom Curry has been labelled a ‘freak of nature’ by team-mate Ben Earl. It comes after scrum coach Tom Harrison revealed that Curry ignored another member of the coaching team by continuing a conditioning session.

Curry will return to the England team in their October 7 clash against Samoa. The Sale Sharks ace has been suspended after being shown a red card for a high tackle against Argentina.

Head coach Steve Borthwick will likely bring Curry straight into the team. And team-mate Earl has provided a glowing reference for why he should play in England’s next game.

Taking part in a Reddit Ask Me Anything with England Rugby, the 25-year-old was asked who possesses the biggest ‘engine’ in the squad. Earl confirmed that Marcus Smith and Curry are among the fittest members of the World Cup team.

Aled Waters, England’s head of strength and conditioning, wanted Curry to finish a session – but the instruction was allegedly ignored.

“Tom is a unique player in that I don’t think I’ve ever come across anyone so fit, or so willing to work hard and put himself through pain,” Harrison said.

“He just seems to be able to enjoy it and keep going. There was a conditioning session the other day where he finished his reps and Aled Walters was shouting at him, ‘Get out, get out’. And he just carried on running.
