The fight with Williams had seen part of his skull collapse as a result of the repeated rabbit punches.<\/p>\n<p>Since emerging from the coma, Colon has been left in a vegetative state with life-altering injuries. He is now being looked after by his mother in Orlando, Florida.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His recovery is also\u00a0being handled by specialists at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital in Orange Park.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/29\/15\/75980057-12575667-image-m-30_1695996570806.jpg\" height=\"497\" width=\"306\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/29\/15\/75980059-12575667-image-a-31_1695996583916.jpg\" height=\"497\" width=\"306\"><\/p>\n<p>Ex-boxer Prichard Colon says he won&#8217;t give up eight years after suffering life-changing injuries<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/29\/15\/75979947-12575667-image-a-22_1695996352428.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Colon suffered a bleed on the brain during a 2015 contest against America&#8217;s Terrel Williams<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/29\/15\/75980089-12575667-image-a-27_1695996561485.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>After spending 221 days in a coma, the Puerto Rican has been in a vegetative state since emerging from it<\/p>\n<p>Almost eight years on from that tragic night in Virginia, Colon is refusing to throw in the towel in spite of the debilitating injuries he has been left with.<\/p>\n<p>In the most recent update on his Facebook profile, Colon attempts to speak with his mother and even raises a smile in a moving video.<\/p>\n<p>The post is captioned: &#8216;I will not give up&#8217;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In other clips, the ex-fighter can be seen attending a truck rally with his family, while also appearing to take a positive step in being able to brush his own teeth.<\/p>\n<p>His mother also recently shared a video of her son on his 31st birthday where she gave him a cupcake with a candle on it.<\/p>\n<p>Colon&#8217;s story is one of the most tragic in boxing history, with former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder breaking down in tears while discussing it last year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We\u2019ve seen what happens, look at Colon. Y\u2019all don\u2019t f****** understand what we go through, man.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;And I don\u2019t even know him like that, but I will always be an advocate for us. Because this man will never know what it\u2019s like to be somebody\u2019s father. And that\u2019s one of the most precious things in the world, to be somebody\u2019s father.
